December 2015- Visit with Friends

We were blessed at the beginning of December to have our very best friends come visit us from Oregon. Mia and E were born just a couple weeks apart and are such cute little friends. We packed A TON into their short trip- we celebrated Holly's birthday, went to a craft bazaar, Church, did the nativity walk that told the story of Christ's birth and had real animals- even a camel!, painted ornaments (thanks, Holly!!!), went to the gymnastics place and played, ate ate ate and talked until we couldn't keep our eyes open!
Since we have three rooms, one of which is a guest room, it always works out great to have friends over. But we weren't sure if E should sleep in their room or in Mia's room...would they keep each other up? How in the world are we going to do naps? What if one wakes up? Well, I'm pleased to say the girls' first "sleep over" went fantastic. Nap times were a breeze and bedtime wasn't bad, either. We just meshed our two bedtime routines, sang a song, and walked out. Then Holly and I stood in our master closet to listen in on them lol! That wall is super thin so it's the best spot. They talked for a couple minutes typically but then conked right out! I think it helped they were so excited and we had so many activities we were doing. They were worn out and slept great!

We had gotten this kitchen, food, dishes and table set for Mia over the last few months. We had been planning a big Christmas surprise but 1, we weren't even going to be home for Christmas, 2, the girls really needed a toy they could enjoy together...before the kitchen Mia had mainly books and a few things in her room mostly conducive to her playing without friends, and 3, she didn't even know what Christmas was anyway and 4, I SIMPLY COULD NOT WAIT A MOMENT LONGER! I was sooooooo excited and this was perfect because we got it all set up and had both girls walk in at the same moment. We explained that it was Mia's but they would both have it for the weekend. That way, nobody was possessive (ahem. Mia.) and there wasn't grabbing and mine and all that- and it actually worked!! They played beautifully!

Listening while I read a book...
We read a lot of books to the girls over the weekend.
Time with our friends is precious and we missed them the moment they walked out the door! So grateful they made the long drive up to see us. oxoxox.
